- Prepare-prepare-prepare!
- Clean your boat from stem to stern. First impressions count. A coat of paint here and there might do wonders.
- Don't overprice or underprice your boat. Give this a lot of thought. Be realistic.
- Get a good colour picture of your boat. Preferably a closeup on a bit of an angle.
- Make sure that whoever answers your phone records the person's name and phone number.
- Make a list of your boat's strengths and features. Make some copies. Have it ready to send to a potential buyer.
- If you have access to the Internet, ask a potential buyer if they have email. You can send them a close up picture of your boat (and maybe shots of the inside) and the list of features you wrote up.
- Practice negotiating. Keep your bottom line in mind but be prepared to give the buyer some wiggle room.
- Be flexible in the times you are willing to show the boat.
- Be available and be honest.
